No, and a large share of our work involves no purchase at all. Reshafting, rebalancing, regripping, loft and lie correction and counterweighting are all done on clubs people already own. If your existing set measures well, the session ends with an audit sheet and no sales conversation.
A single club audit runs about thirty minutes. Putter, wedge and fairway wood sessions take an hour. Drivers take seventy-five minutes and iron sets ninety. A full bag audit is deliberately split across two visits because measuring and hitting fourteen clubs properly does not fit into one sitting.
The opposite is closer to the truth. A player with a repeating swing can compensate for a badly balanced club without noticing. A developing player usually cannot, so the mass plan does more work for them. We fit beginners regularly and it is some of the most useful work we do.
Head mass as received and as built, shaft model and raw weight, tip weight added, grip model with tape wrap count, assembled static weight, balance point from the butt, finished swingweight, length, loft, lie, and the initials of whoever built it. One card per club.
Because the alternative is guessing. Catalogue specifications carry real tolerances, and a head that arrives eight grams off nominal will take a finished club a full swingweight point away from where you agreed it should be. Weighing takes minutes; finding out on the course takes a season.
Regrips, rebalances and loft-lie work are usually same day. Reshafts and single builds are next day, because epoxy gets a full overnight cure and a cold re-measure the following morning. Full set builds run three to five working days if everything is in stock, longer if a component has to be ordered.
Yes, always. Bring anything. We service clubs bought online, second hand, inherited, or assembled by another shop years ago. Around half the work on the bench in any given week is on clubs that came from somewhere else.
Regularly, and it is priced accordingly. Juniors change height and strength quickly, so the sensible pattern is small adjustments every eight to twelve months rather than a new set each year. Most junior visits are a length and grip adjustment costing well under a hundred dollars.
Then we find out during the session. Nothing on the intake form requires you to arrive with technical knowledge. The questions we ask are things like which course you play most and whether your divots are deep, and we take the measurements ourselves.
The bay and the launch unit are part of every driver, wood, hybrid and iron session. Putter and wedge sessions use a stroke capture rig and turf mat instead, because launch numbers are not the useful measurement for those clubs.
Bring them back within thirty days. Adjustment work — swingweight, length, lie, grip size, tape count — is free. If a component genuinely has to change we charge only what the part cost us, with no second labour charge.
Regrips and small bench work can usually be handled as a walk-in on weekdays if a bench is free. Anything involving the bay needs a booking, because there is only one hitting bay and it gets scheduled tightly.
No. There is no retail floor here and nothing on the racks is merchandise. Every club that leaves the building has been built to a written mass plan, even if the components came out of our own stock.
