Every Stage Ends With a Number Written Down

Nothing in this sequence is decided by impression. Each stage produces a measurement, and that measurement sets the constraint for the stage after it.

Before you arrive

Two Small Things That Save Twenty Minutes

Neither is mandatory, and we will work around it if you turn up empty handed straight from the office.

Bring the whole bag Even the clubs you never hit. A 4-iron you abandoned two years ago is evidence about what stopped working, and it costs nothing to weigh it while you are here.
Wear your golf shoes Spike height changes your wrist-to-floor by up to half an inch, which is enough to move a length recommendation. Street shoes give us a measurement you will never actually play in.
Stage one

The Intake Audit

Your clubs go on the scale one at a time. We record static weight, swingweight, length, loft, lie, grip condition and shaft type for everything you brought. The whole thing takes about fifteen minutes for a full bag and produces a one-page audit you keep whether or not you buy anything.

This stage regularly ends the session. If your set is inside tolerance, your grips are sound, and your lofts have not drifted, we tell you that and charge the audit fee only. Around one visit in six goes that way.

When it does not go that way, the audit tells us which direction the problem runs: an uneven set, a bag that is uniformly too heavy, lofts that have crept from years of bending, or a grip situation that has quietly changed how hard you hold on.

Stage two

Hands, Posture, and How Hard You Hold On

Measured on you, not guessed
  • Wrist-to-floor in the shoes you will play in
  • Hand length from wrist crease to middle fingertip
  • Palm width across the knuckles
  • Glove size, both hands, since they often differ
  • Grip pressure sampled at address and at the top
  • Address posture photographed from face-on and down the line

Height gets used as a proxy for club length far too often. Two players at the same height with different arm lengths need different clubs, and the wrist-to-floor measurement catches that in about ten seconds.

Hand measurements decide grip core size and how many wraps of tape go under the grip. That combination changes finished grip weight by up to eight grams, which lands straight back in the swingweight column — which is why we take it before writing any mass plan rather than after.

Grip pressure matters more than most people expect. A player who strangles the club generally wants a slightly larger effective grip and a slightly heavier butt end. A light-handed player usually wants the opposite, and giving them a thick grip because their hands are large is a common and expensive mistake.

Stage three

Testing on Adjustable Assemblies

Test clubs here are built on reusable adapters with open weight ports. That lets us change one variable at a time and hand the club straight back to you, rather than sending you home to think about it while a shaft gets glued.

The usual sequence is head first, then shaft weight class, then fine weight in two-gram increments. Between each change you hit five to eight balls. Naomi will stop the session and reschedule if your strike pattern starts scattering — tired data has caused more bad builds than any other single factor.

We show you the numbers as they come up rather than summarising at the end. If a change made things worse, you should see that on the screen while your hands still remember the swing.

Roughly sixty to eighty swings total. If you need a break at forty, take one — the clock is not the point.
Stage four

The Mass Plan, Written and Signed

Before anything is cut, you get a single page saying what the finished club will weigh, where it will balance, and which components get us there.

Finished static weight, balance point from the butt, and swingweight. These are the three numbers the build is judged against when it comes back off the rack.

Component List With Weights

Head, shaft, grip, ferrule, tip weight and tape count, each with its measured gram value rather than its catalogue value.

The Gram Budget

Where the remaining grams come from and how much slack is left. If the plan needs more than six grams of tip weight to hit target, we usually change shafts instead.

Cost and Calendar

Total price, what is in stock, what has to be ordered, and the realistic pickup date rather than the optimistic one.

Stage five

Assembly, Cure, Cold Re-Measure

Shafts are cut to raw length, the tip is prepped, the hosel is cleaned, and the ferrule is seated dry to check the fit before any epoxy is mixed. Epoxy is measured by weight, not squeezed by eye, because a heavy glue joint is real grams that land in the head end.

Clubs cure overnight standing head-up. The next morning they go back on the swingweight scale cold. Warm epoxy and settled epoxy do not read the same, and a shop that measures immediately after assembly is measuring the wrong club.

Anything reading outside the posted band gets pulled apart and redone. That is our cost, not yours, and it is the reason the band is worth publishing at all.

The Thirty-Day Return Window

Play the clubs. If something is not sitting right after a few rounds, bring them back inside thirty days and we will adjust length, swingweight, grip size or lie at no charge. Component swaps are charged at component cost only.
